Lite-On, Synnex to Set Up Regional Headquarters in Guangzhou, Southern China

Taipei, April 14, 2008 (CENS)--Despite the rising costs of raw materials and labor in China, two Taiwan-based large-sized companies in the electronics sector, namely Lite-On Group and Synnex Technology International Corp., have reportedly promised China`s Guangzhou City government to set up their regional headquarters there in the future, according to industry sources.

At present, Lite-On, as a leading maker of optical products in Taiwan, has established 11 electronics companies in Guangzhou, generating production value of RMB25 billion a year. According to China`s Xin Hua News Agency, the group has decided to locate its global headquarters in the Guangzhou Science City and has moved to set up a share holding company there as a regional headquarters.

In the meantime, Synnex, the world`s No. 3 and Asia Pacific`s largest distributor of 3C (communication, computer and consumer electronics) products, has inked a memorandum with officials of Tianhe Software Garden, a software development park in Guangzhou, on building a logistic center in charge of information management, product R&D and technical services in Greater China.

In addition to cities across the Taiwan Strait, Synnex has also operated branches in 141 cities in 16 different countries of the world, including Australia, Thailand, the U.S., Canada, Mexico and India, showing its strong network of distribution channels in the sector.

In 2007, the electronics manufacturing sector in Guangzhou generated revenues of RMB83.723 billion, with RMB6.152 billion from exports. Presently, Microsoft Corp., Siemens AG, International Business Machines Corp. and Intel Corp. have all moved to set up branches in the Guangzhou Science City.
