China`s Trade Promotion Group Comes to Taiwan to Buy NT$30 B. Worth of Products
Taipei, Aug. 20, 2009 (CENS)--A trade promotion group from China, the third of its kind since the beginning of this year, has come to Taiwan, aimed at purchasing NT$30 billion, or US$900 million worth of domestically made goods.
The group is composed of 120 businesspersons of 70 firms, half of whom haven`t yet visited Taiwan. Outstanding group members include Lenovo Group and Chongqing Hybest Air Tools Co. The group said it would procure everything that Taiwan`s manufacturers can steadily supply. Major procurements for the group will include machinery, petrochemicals, automobile parts, food and apparel.
It is estimated that a total of 560 trade promotion meetings with domestic suppliers will be held, paving the way for further cooperation in the near future.
Wang Chih-kang, chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), said the three trade promotion groups will purchase a total of US$3.267 billion and US$3.8 billion worth of domestically made products.
Wang said another nine same groups from China will successively come to Taiwan by the end of this year, which will contribute a lot to Taiwan`s overall exports.
