Metso will outsource oil and gas boiler manufacturing of Novikat Oy in Mynämäki to Mesekon Oy in Turku Finland. The business operations of Novikat Oy a workshop owned by Metso and Wärtsilä joint venture MW Power will be transferred to Mesekon on January 1st 2010.
MW Power and Novikat will also conclude a subcontracting agreement on boiler manufacturing. All 13 employees of Novikat will be transferred to Mesekon Oy.
By outsourcing the manufacturing, more flexibility in the cyclical oil and gas boiler production will be gained. The transaction will also enable better utilization of know how in tube and steel structure manufacturing. MW Power’s production unit in Kiuruvesi, Finland will continue to concentrate on the manufacturing of biomass power plant modules and biomass heating plant components and services.
Mesekon Oy is a customer oriented mechanical workshop at Turku in Finland with approximately 60 employees. The net sales of the company in 2008 was approximately EUR 7.5 million.
